Wet Pattern Continues… Warmer Days Mixed in… Monday Forecast Updat e- 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Monday afternoon! After a chilly start to the day, conditions remain right at seasonal averages for this time of the year, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Bright sunshine and a light to calm wind remains with us this afternoon, but clouds will quickly increase overnight. A few light showers are possible over west Alabama late tonight into early Tuesday. Temperatures will fall into the lower 40s after sunset, then rise into the upper 40s by sunrise tomorrow morning.

Expect periods of showers to continue possible on Tuesday, but heavy rain is not expected during the day. Highs will approach the low 60s, with increasing moisture. Heavy rain and storms arrive very late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, slowly ending from northwest to southeast around lunch on Wednesday. Rain could continue into the early afternoon Wednesday south of I-59. Severe weather is not expected with this setup. We’ll start off the day in the lower 60s, with temperatures falling into the middle 50s during the afternoon.

Thursday, we’ll return to seasonal conditions, with a high in the upper 50s and sunny skies. Look for a warm-up into the middle 60s by Friday afternoon, with a slow increase in clouds late in the day.

Widespread soaking rains will return over the upcoming weekend, with wet weather expected on both Saturday and Sunday. Models suggest a pretty good chunk of next weekend could be wet… Most areas picked up between 1 and 3 inches of rain this past weekend, and an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected in our entire area between Tuesday and next weekend, with isolated higher amounts. With this current setup, it’s safe to say this is ending our sudden drought! We’ve still got a rainfall deficit of 1 – 2 inches for most of our area, but I expect our entire area to have a surplus by the time next weekend ends.
