Dry Days Ahead… Weekend Showers… Monday Forecast Update – 4:15pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Monday afternoon! We had some rain move across west and central Alabama this morning and early afternoon, but rain is all gone as of 4pm. Temperatures remain rather mild behind the rain, but cooler air will filter in this evening and tonight, with temperatures near 40 at sunrise.

Tuesday and Wednesday will feature bright sunny days, with very close to the seasonal averages for late January. Highs will reach the upper 50s, with lows in the lower 30s.

Thursday will feature a cool start to the day, with low 30s at sunrise. Highs will approach 60 Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon. A few high clouds will move in on Friday, but we’ll remain dry.

Moisture will increase over the weekend, with a good chance of showers on Saturday and Sunday. Models are trending drier in response to a Gulf low robbing the moisture return to Alabama, but there’s still good evidence of scattered to numerous showers over the weekend. If model continue to trend drier, we may have to reduce rain chances some. Highs will approach 60 Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.

11am Monday Radar Update… Rain Moving Through… #alwx @wvua23

f3443.png

At 11am, we’ve got a line of rain and thunder stretching from Cullman to Jasper to near Tuscaloosa to Eutaw to Demopolis. The line is gradually weakening, but is still dropping some fair rainfall rates as it moves across west Alabama. There were a couple of tornado warnings back in east Mississippi, but the rotation from those have died out, as this is more of just a rain/thunder environment over Alabama. Instability is trapped too far south for us to have severe weather issues today.

Rain may last about an hour in one spot before moving to your east. Look for rain to end in cities like Tuscaloosa, Jasper and Demopolis by 1pm this afternoon. Rain will spread across east Alabama during the early afternoon, with rainfall amounts generally under 1/2 an inch.
