Light Snow Possible Tuesday… Sunday AM Update 8am #alwx @wvua23

Good Sunday morning! At 8am, and after going over all the overnight data, there is still a chance of light snow across all of west and central Alabama on Tuesday and into Tuesday night. While it’s not 100% it will accumulate, there’s atleast a chance we could have minor accumulations in our area. The better chance of minor accumulation will occur north of Demopolis and Rockford, basically the north and northwest half of Alabama.

Amounts should be generally less than 1″ with some areas not getting any accumulation at all. Given the very cold air involved and the very cold roads & ground temperatures, any snow accumulation could make travel difficult. It is important to keep a very close eye on this incase of sudden changes. If this event begins mid to late morning on Tuesday and we indeed have accumulations, people at work and school could have difficult travel returning home. I’m not saying this will be a 2014 repeat, but even a little amount of snow could cause travel problems. It is possible this system comes in drier than expected, and we have nothing more than a few flurries.

This is a complicated situation and forecast changes are possible. Please make sure you’re looking at the latest information and not something days old and outdated…
