Nice for Now… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4:40pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.pngGood Tuesday afternoon! Our local weather was nice this afternoon after a cool start to the day. Temperatures managed to warm into the upper 60s in many areas. At 1:45pm, a loud boom was heard across portions of central Alabama, in an area around Cullman, Jasper, Birmingham, Talladega and Rockford. While we are working to get information on this, it was not related to a ground explosion or earthquake. This was possibly a sonic boom from a meteor exploding in the atmosphere. While it’s not all that uncommon, it can sound pretty scary!

Skies remain clear tonight, with temperatures falling fast into the middle 40s overnight. Highs will rebound into the upper 60s on Wednesday and Thursday, with an increase in clouds. We will remain dry through Friday. Low 70s are possible on Friday.

A cold front will move through the area on Saturday, with a good chance of showers and maybe a storm with the front. Temperatures will trend cooler by Saturday night and on Sunday.
