Warmer Days Ahead… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4:25pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Tuesday afternoon! What’s left of Irma is now a swirl across the southeast, with light rain and drizzle rotating around the remnant center. Fortunately, there are no issues with wind in our local area today, but it remains chilly! Most of central and west Alabama didn’t get above 65 today, with cloudy skies and occasional drizzle or light rain. Temperatures tonight will gradually drop into the upper 50s, under a cloudy sky.

Wednesday, we’ll maintain a chance of isolated showers, but we’ll begin a warming trend. We could even see some sun at times on Wednesday, especially south of I-20. As the weak surface low lifts out, and upper air ridging builds back in, look for skies to become mostly sunny on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will warm into the middle 80s on Thursday, followed by upper 80s on Friday.

As moisture increases for the weekend, a few scattered showers are possible, but most areas will remain dry through the weekend. The risk of any one spot getting a shower is at 20%. Overnight temperatures will begin to rise a bit as well, with lows near 70 by late weekend.

Hurricane Jose just to the east of the Bahamas will do a loop over the next 3 or 4 days, well east of the US coastline. Models indicate Jose will turn out to sea, with no US impact. We’ll watch it, but there is no evidence this will be an issue for our local weather.
