At 9:15pm, light rain continues across the area, as the leftover low pressure from Irma moves northeast into central Alabama. The heavier rain is in the process of ending across central and west Alabama, with lingering light rain and drizzle extending southward across the rest of central Alabama. Expect the moderate rain to be gone by midnight, with drizzle or patches of light rain through Tuesday morning.

As for the wind, Irma continues to weaken and winds are gradually decreasing across Georgia and east Alabama, with uniform breezy conditions across Alabama and Georgia. Winds in our area are gusting between 15 and 30mph, but I haven’t seen any reports of winds over 32mph in the past few hours. Expect winds to gradually weaken overnight, with a light west breeze expected on Tuesday between 5 and 15mph.

So far, most reports of isolated trees blown down or scattered power outages have been over east Alabama, mainly near the Alabama/Georgia state line. We have not had any reports of trees down in west Alabama for areas west of I-65, and the number of power outages in that part of the state remain low. Most outages occurred this morning in the Eufaula to Dothan areas, where winds gusted over 45mph.
