Good Monday early evening! As of 5:45pm, we’ve got a steady soaking rain covering much of Alabama, with a band of moderate rain moving west across central Alabama. The main batch of light to moderate rain will begin to lift out of our area overnight tonight, with lingering areas of light rain and showers continuing into the day tomorrow. The main area of gusty winds are occurring within the band of moderate rain, moving westward across central AL.

In terms of the wind speeds involved, above is a map of wind gusts as of 5:45pm. Winds are generally gusting between 15mph and 30mph over west Alabama, with gusts between 25mph and 35mph along and east of I-65. It is interesting to note how winds are really decreasing over southern Georgia. I expect gusty winds over the next few hours, which could cause some power outages and a few trees to come down across the state. By midnight tonight, winds should start to decrease across the area, with light winds by tomorrow morning.
