Nice Labor Day Weekend… Tropical Update… Friday Forecast Update – 4:25pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Friday afternoon! After severe weather issues this time yesterday, things are pretty quiet across Alabama today. The remnant low of Harvey continues to move northeast, away from Alabama. Skies have cleared nicely this afternoon as drier air takes over, and this will set the stage for a perfect weekend!

Saturday through Monday will feature low humidity. Afternoon temperatures will warm into the upper 80s, under a mostly sunny sky. Saturday morning through Monday morning will be very nice, with sunrise temperatures in the middle 60s. Areas north of I-20 will drop into the lower 60s.

A surface front approaches on Tuesday, with a good chance of showers and a few storms late in the day. Rain chances will decrease after lunch on Wednesday, as drier air takes over. Highs will only top out in the middle 70s on Wednesday. Overnight temperatures could reach the upper 50s by Wednesday night.

In the tropics, we have Irma, which is a category 3 hurricane with winds at 120mph. We’ll be watching carefully the track of Irma, as some models suggest this could get closer to the US in about 9 to 10 days. Lots can change between now and then, but we’ll keep an eye on it. I do want to mention… at this time, most model data keeps Irma out of the Gulf, but nothing is set in stone as of this moment.
