Storms moving in Alabama and the Atlantic! Forecast update 9pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.pngWell it was a beautiful sunny day across the state today! Highs for the afternoon touching in the low 90s for most areas. We had showers going on in all of our surrounding states and this evening a light shower or two is possible in more western counties as a few showers move from Mississippi into our area. However, those seem to be dying out as they enter the state.

We have a lot of weather going on this week! Tropical storm Gert has formed in the Atlantic originating all the way back from the coast of Africa! Fortunately this storm is not expected to make landfall in the states, but the coast of North Carolina may see a little greater wind speeds (nothing severe). Coastal areas should also be cautious of tides and large wave from Monday until Wednesday.

Closer to home we do have storms moving into the area tomorrow. The day will start with the system spotting a few showers in more northwest counties in the morning. Those storms will then spread south and east to cover most of the state with rain by the evening. Areas prone to flooding should be cautious over the next several days. Flashing flooding should not be ruled out.

Tuesday rain will continue and by Wednesday the chance for showers will begin to decrease and stay around 40% through your weekend. This week will not be a complete washout though, expect times of sun and showers after Wednesday.
