Rain Chances Increasing… Wedneday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Wednesday afternoon! Clouds have really increased across west and central Alabama today, with a few sprinkles reported in spots. Temperatures this afternoon have topped out generally in the middle 80s due to extensive cloud cover. Expect temperatures to slowly drop into the 70s overnight, with only a very low chance of an isolated shower or sprinkle.

Thursday, a warm front over the Gulf Coast will spark the development of widespread rain near the coast, which will help to spread more clouds across central Alabama. A few scattered showers and storms will be possible, but not everyone will get rain on Thursday.

An upper air trough and weak surface front will stall out across north Alabama on Friday and Saturday, which will help to enhance the number of scattered storms across the area. Look for a good chance of scattered storms at times Friday through the weekend. As another front approaches and stalls nearby early next week, we’ll maintain a good chance of occasional to scattered showers and storms. I do not expect it to rain all day, but keep the umbrella handy through the weekend into next week as well.
