Scattered Storms Increase Ahead… Friday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Friday afternoon! At 4:30pm, a few scattered storms are ongoing over west and portions of central Alabama. Storms are generally moving west or southwest, with little action across east or north Alabama. Scattered storms will diminish this evening, with warm and muggy conditions expected tonight.

A weak upper air trough axis will dig across the southeast over the weekend, which will help to increase the number of scattered showers and storms. I do not expect it to rain all weekend, but there will be a few scattered storms from time to time. The best chance of getting a passing downpour will happen during the afternoon and evening. Highs will top out in the low 90s both Saturday and on Sunday.

Rain chances will increase some on Monday and Tuesday, as a weak surface front moves into the area from the northwest. This will bring a higher number of scattered storms to the area, but I do not expect an all day type of rain event. The best chance of getting a passing storm will be during the afternoon, but I can’t rule out an overnight or early morning storm given the uplift and abundant moisture in the area on Monday and Tuesday.
