Few Scattered Storms Ahead… Wednesday Forecast Update – 4:25pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Wednesday afternoon! Today is another hot and humid day, with highs reaching the lower 90s in many areas. Heat index has surpassed the 100 degree mark as well. A few scattered downpours have developed over west and central Alabama. Showers and storms on radar are generally moving north at a very slow speed. Given the nature of scattered storms, some of you will get a heavy downpour and some spots not a drop. Storms will fade away after sunset this evening. Expect another very muggy night overnight.

Thursday will feature identical conditions as today, with hot, hazy and humid conditions. A few spotty showers and storms will fire up randomly during the afternoon. Look for a high in the low 90s, with a heat index of 100 to 104.

Friday will feature a slightly higher number of scattered storms, but I don’t expect everyone to get rain. Where storms form, they will be slow movers and dump heavy rain.

A weak surface front will approach central Alabama on Saturday and Sunday. I expect a good chance of scattered storms on Saturday and Sunday, but it will not rain all day. Highs will reach the low 90, with a high level of humidity. Lows at night will remain in the 70s across the area.
