Hot Days Continue… Few Scattered Storms Ahead… Monday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Monday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out hot this afternoon, with most areas reaching the low 90s. Fortunately, dewpoints are a little low this afternoon. Moisture will begin to creep up on Tuesday and Wednesday, so the dreaded humidity will be back. Expect quiet weather for tonight, with a low in the lower 70s.

Tuesday and Wednesday will feature hot, hazy and humid summer days, with highs reaching the low 90s. Heat index will top 100 both afternoons, with a risk of scattered showers and storms. I do not expect everyone to get rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, but don’t be surprised if you get a passing shower or storm.

By Thursday and Friday, scattered storms during the afternoon will become a little more widespread. Rain chances will reach 40% on Friday and continue over the weekend. A weak tropical wave, the remnants of Tropical Depression 4 will move into the Gulf by the late week and into the weekend, so we’ll watch that feature for an increase in rain chances. Even if it’s not a tropical storm or hurricane, a tropical wave can help to enhance the risk of scattered storms. At this point, models don’t show much of an increase, so I’ll keep the rain chance at 40%.
