Few Scattered Storms Ahead… Hot & Humid… Thursday Forecast Update – 3:50pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Thursday afternoon! After a mild and muggy start to the day, a few scattered storms have developed this afternoon on radar. At 3:50pm, most scattered storms were located near and north of I-20 and moving east. The risk of a few passing storms will remain possible tonight, especially north of I-20, but even there storms will be hit or miss. Temperatures will fall into the lower 70s overnight, with a muggy feel to the air.

A weak surface front will approach Alabama on Friday and Saturday. We’ll maintain a 40% risk of scattered pop-up storms, with a high near 90. There is some evidence drier air will reach I-20 on Sunday and Monday, but a few scattered storms will remain possible both days south of I-20. To the north, the risk of a pop-up storm is much lower. By Tuesday, the soupy airmass returns, and we’ll deal with hot & humid conditions, with a few random afternoon storms.

In the tropics, Tropical Depression 4 is moving across the central Atlantic and into an unfavorable environment. The system will likely fizzle out in the next day or two, as it moves west northwest.
