More Showers possible this evening… forecast update 9pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.pngWell we saw that severe storm this evening! Winds in Tuscaloosa county were measured at 60mph at one point! There were some damages reports of fallen trees. The hazards experienced were hail, lightning, and strong winds. Flooding will be a large issue over the next several days. The soil in many areas has become saturated so rain that falls on those areas has no where to go but sit on the surface. Turn around don’t drown!! With more showers on their way remember this while you are driving. Flooding is one of the leading causes of death across the world so do not drive through flooded areas because you risk getting trapped.

Tonight areas will see some more showers, but they will be a lot lighter than what was experienced earlier. Lightning is still possible so be wary if going outside this evening.

Tomorrow expect more storms to move in. With how unstable the atmosphere is there is a likely chance for thunder and lightning. Be prepared to move outdoor plans inside, but the afternoon will not be a washout. Highs for this week continue to trend in the low 90s and the air will continue to be humid and mucky!

The 4th of July we will see some showers during the afternoon. As of now most areas will be clear of rain around 8-9pm so fireworks should still be possible. Some areas to the east may still have some sprinkles.

Have a safe holiday weekend!
