Hot & Humid Days Continue… Few Storms… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Tuesday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out hot again this afternoon. Given dewpoints remain high, heat index remains a factor today. Temperatures will remain very warm and conditions will feel muggy through this evening. A few scattered storms remain possible in spots through 9pm, but rain is unlikely after 9pm. Expect lows tonight in the lower 70s.

Wednesday looks very similar to today, with a 30% risk of a few pop up afternoon storms. Highs will approach 90, with a heat index approaching the mid 90s. Skies remain partly cloudy, with again a few cumulus developing into pop up storms.

A surface front approaches from the northwest on Thursday and Friday. Rain chances increase across our area, as forecast models show a good combination of uplift, instability and moisture available for storms. I do not expect an all day type of rain on Thursday or Friday, but an hour or two of rain is not out of the question. Models hint at maybe 2 clusters of organized showers and storms passing through, one Thursday afternoon and another on Friday.

While a few scattered storms remain possible over the weekend, the risk is a bit lower compared to Thursday and Friday. Rain chances are at 40% on Saturday, with the best chance of getting a storm during the afternoon. Rain chances on Father’s Day is at 20%, with again the afternoon being the best chance of getting a stray storm. Highs will warm into the low 90s this weekend for many areas…
