Rain & Storms Ending Tuesday… Dry Mid-Week… Monday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! Our local weather remains very unsettled, with numerous showers and storms across west and central Alabama. Showers and storms are moving generally towards the north, with some storms with a northeast component of motion. The coverage of showers and storms is in response to a deep upper air trough just to our west and the upward moisture associated with the trough in our area. A very humid environment across west and central Alabama is providing the necessary fuel for rain and storm today.

A surface low is developing in the northern Gulf and will push east over the next 24 hours. The low will help to feed more moisture into an advancing surface front from the northwest. In response, I expect a good chance of occasional showers and storms tonight and on Tuesday. By Tuesday evening, rain chances should come to an end from northwest to southeast, as drier air filters into the state.

Wednesday through Friday will feature dry and less humid air. Dewpoints will drop into the 50s, which will feel great! Look for a good dose of sunshine through the first half of the weekend. Highs will remain in the 80s this week, with highs approaching 90 over the upcoming weekend.
