Chilly for Now… Nice Weekend Ahead… Thursday Forecast Update – 4:25pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Thursday afternoon! After a damp and mild start to the day, temperatures have been dropping this afternoon as a cold front moves across the area. At 4pm, most of central and west Alabama had temperatures in the 50s. Expect a slow drop in temperatures overnight, with a low in the upper 40s after midnight. Skies remain cloudy tonight, with a chance of a few passing showers or drizzle.

A cold core upper level low will move right across Alabama tonight into Friday, brining lots of clouds and a few passing rain showers. Temperatures will remain cool under the low, with highs struggling to reach the low 60s Friday afternoon. I expect areas north of I-20 to remain in the 50s all day.

The upper level low will move to our east over the weekend, allowing sunshine to make a nice return. Highs will top out in the mid 70s on Saturday and upper 70s on Sunday. This will be a perfect race weekend at Talladega!

We’ll continue to notice a warming trend early next week, as highs return into the 80s and lows modify as well.
