Dry and Pleasant Days Ahead… Wednesday Eve Update – 10pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

After over 120 reports of wind damage and large hail today, conditions tonight are much more quiet. Cooler air is taking over tonight, and I expect temperatures in the middle to upper 40s by sunrise Thursday.

Highs on Thursday and Friday will reach the middle 60s, with lows at night in the low 40s. We’ll enjoy plenty of sunshine through the weekend. You’ll notice a warming trend this weekend, with low 70s on Saturday and upper 70s on Sunday.

Severe Weather is Over… Look Back at Reports… Wednesday Update – 9pm #alwx @wvua23

dgsss.png

Here’s a look back at the severe weather outbreak today, with 2 rounds of severe storms that impacted much of central Alabama. The more widespread hail and wind damage was roughly along and to the east of I-65, perfectly placed in the moderate risk area. Check out the map above that shows individual storm reports of damaging wind, hail and tornadoes. Fortunately, a southwest surface wind drastically reduced low level directional wind shear, helping to prevent a big tornado risk today. Unfortunately, today was still a severe weather outbreak with numerous storms producing large hail and damaging winds. Here’s the full list of storm reports from the National Weather Service:
