Hot Start to Spring! Monday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Monday afternoon! It’s a hot first day of Spring, with temperatures reaching the lower to middle 80s across all of west and central Alabama. A few spots over west Alabama managed to make the upper 80s today! With upper air ridging over the southern US, I expect much of the same weather for Tuesday, if not a few degrees warmer.

Temperatures tonight will steadily fall after sunset, with lows generally in the upper 50s. Look for a mostly clear sky tonight, with a pleasant feel to the air. Temperatures will rapidly warm into the middle 80s on Tuesday across central Alabama, with upper 80s likely over west Alabama. For the Tuscaloosa area, I’m forecasting a high near 87! Expect mostly sunny skies on Tuesday.

A weak cold front will push southward across Alabama on Wednesday, brining a good deal of clouds and a very small chance of a stray shower on Wednesday and Thursday. Highs will drop into the low 70s on Wednesday, with east Alabama in the 60s all day both Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will be a tad warmer over west Alabama, with low 70s more likely. Skies remain partly to mostly cloudy through Saturday.

Another cold front will approach Alabama on Saturday or Saturday night. This front will run out of steam as it moves our way. I expect a fair chance of showers and scattered storms on Saturday, but the risk of anything becoming severe is looking less and less likely. Given the lack of upper air support, very weak surface low and poor lapse rates, the risk of anything becoming severe on Saturday is very low, if not totally out of the question. We’ll watch that system very close incase anything changes. I don’t expect a washout on Saturday, in-fact, some of you will not get any rain.

Temperatures will warm into the middle 70s on Saturday and Sunday, with drier conditions on Sunday. I can’t rule out a stray shower. Look for full sunshine to return on Monday, with a high in the lower 80s.
