Rain Monday, Cold Remains…Sunday Evening Update 8:15pm

7 Day -SHELTON STATE Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Sunday evening! We started off with clouds early this morning, but those quickly broke down and moved out of central Alabama. That has allowed for a slight warm-up this afternoon…but not by much. Tonight, temperatures will drop, setting-up for a chilly evening. Lows won’t be that bad though thanks to increasing clouds holding in the little bit of heat we got today. Monday kicks off the beginning of the work week with another dose of showers developing shortly after 8 a.m, ahead of a second cold front. Rain should last for a good portion of the day. After, much cooler air starts to funnel in.

Tuesday will be cooler, but a few lingering clouds will remain for a portion of the day. Tuesday night is when we start to see skies fully clearing. The clear skies will allow very cold temperatures at night, so make arrangements to protect any sensitive plants. Wednesday night will also be cold and could have the chance to see frost develop across central and north Alabama. Wednesday will be the coldest day out of the work week. Thursday and Friday both start to slowly warm up with winds starting to change to a south to north flow ahead of a new system that will arrive next weekend.
Next weekend, increased temperatures arrive ahead of the approaching front that will bring showers Friday night and into Saturday. After the front passes, high pressure ridging sets up over Tennessee: that will aid in quickly pulling in warm air from our south.
