Good Wednesday afternoon! It has turned out to be absolutely beautiful this afternoon, with a surface high over our area. Sunny skies will remain clear tonight, with temperatures falling into the lower 40s. It will be rather cool early Thursday morning, but we can expect another fast warm-up in temperatures. Highs will approach the middle 70s Thursday afternoon.
A weak cold front will approach Alabama Thursday night into early Friday morning. We’ll notice an increase in clouds Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. A band of showers and a few storms will move across the area early Friday morning. By noon, most of our area should be dry, with a few peaks of sun.
Temperatures will trend cooler over the weekend, as a surface low forms in the northern Gulf. Expect widespread rain by Saturday evening into early Sunday morning. This system may develop a heavy swath of snow in Tennessee over the weekend, with some areas getting a good snow accumulation around Nashville and Gatlinburg. Highs will top out in the lower to middle 60s on Saturday, with highs in the 50s on Sunday. Another surge of chilly air will take over on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs dropping back into the 50s. Lows may dip below freezing Tuesday night of next week.
