Very Mild Days Ahead… Cooler Weekend… Wedneday Forecast Update – 5:30pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Wednesday afternoon! After a gloomy start to the day, the afternoon turned out really nice. Temperatures reached the low 70s across all of central and west Alabama, with a gradual decrease in clouds. Some areas of fog will develop overnight, with temperatures dropping into the middle to upper 50s.

Expect a very warm Thursday and Friday, as heights increase a bit. Highs will reach the upper 70s to near 80 on Thursday, with low 80s more widespread on Friday. A cold front will move into northwest Alabama late Friday night, bringing a risk of showers overnight Friday night into the pre-dawn hours Saturday morning.

Cooler air will take over this weekend, with highs dropping back into the low 60s on Saturday and Sunday. Skies will be mainly sunny this weekend, with a breezy north wind on Saturday and light to calm wind on Sunday. Temperatures Saturday night could approach freezing, as a surface high moves over our area. With a calm wind and clear sky, areas of light frost area likely early Sunday morning. If you have already planted a garden or have frost sensitive plants outdoors, I would take cold weather precautions Saturday night.

A modifying trend will take over early next week, with highs warming back into the 70s. A few showers are possible on Monday.
