Hope you are having a nice Friday! After a sunny and cool start to the day, temperatures warmed nicely this afternoon. At 4pm, most observations across west and central Alabama were reporting upper 60s to near 70 for current temperatures. Clouds are rapidly increasing this afternoon, as a weak upper air low and surface low move into the area. A few light showers will spread into Alabama later this evening and into the overnight hours. Rain amounts overnight will be less than 1/4th an inch. Expect lows in the upper 40s.
Skies remain mostly cloudy on Saturday, with a few passing showers possible. The best chance of light rain will occur during the morning hours, with a gradual reduction in the number of showers by early afternoon. Highs will reach the low 60s on Saturday.
Upper air ridging will build in from the west on Sunday. Expect highs in the middle 70s, with a partly cloudy sky. Our local weather will remain very mild through much of next week, as the cold air remains trapped to our north. Some areas will easily reach the upper 70s on Monday, with lows modifying into the 50s at night.
A weak upper air disturbance will bring some showers into the area on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, but highs will remain well above average. Look for low 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a mostly cloudy sky.
