Good Monday afternoon! It has turned out to be a perfect afternoon across west and central Alabama, with temperatures warming well into the 60s. Skies will remain mostly clear this evening and into tonight, with temperatures dropping into the upper 30s.
Valentine’s Day will feature mild temperatures for mid February, with a high in the lower to middle 60s. Clouds will increase on Tuesday, but rain is not expected until Tuesday night and early on Wednesday.
A weak surface low will develop to our west and move across central Alabama late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. Expect a large area of light to moderate rain to spread across the state, with rain amounts near 1/2 an inch with this event. Rain will end by lunch on Wednesday across central Alabama.
Look for a warming trend by the weekend, as highs approach the upper 60s to low 70s. A weak upper air disturbance could squeeze out a few showers on Saturday, but the risk of widespread rain appears unlikely at this time. We’ll see more sunshine than clouds on Sunday, with a high in the low 70s.
