Good Friday afternoon! It has turned out to be a warmer day, with temperatures warming well into the upper 60s. A few spots have reached the low 70s this afternoon, as the trough that brought the cooler air retreats to the northeast quickly. Temperatures will not get near as cold tonight, as moisture and clouds advection in from the south. Look for a mostly cloudy sky after midnight, with a low in the upper 40s.
Saturday will feature a mainly cloudy and mild day, with temperatures reaching the lower 70s. A stray shower is possible on Saturday, as moisture increases off the Gulf. Temperatures Saturday night will drop into the lower 60s, which is above the average high for this time of the year! By Sunday, we’ll maintain a mostly cloudy sky, with a high in the middle 70s. A few showers are possible on Sunday, as a weak cold front moves in from the northwest. While there is a decent chance you’ll get a light shower or two at your house on Sunday, it will not rain all day….
Cooler air will move in for early next week, with highs dipping back into the lower 60s both on Monday and Tuesday. Some areas will drop into the upper 30s Monday night. While the air will be cooler, temperatures will be closer to average for this time of the year.
A Gulf low will spread rain over Alabama on Wednesday, with a soaking likely. Expect highs in the middle 50s, with periods of rain. Rain amounts will range from 1/4th an inch to 1 inch across central and west Alabama.
