THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
31 IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS
IN ALABAMA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 10 COUNTIES
IN CENTRAL ALABAMA
BLOUNT, JEFFERSON, ST. CLAIR
IN NORTHEAST ALABAMA
IN NORTHWEST ALABAMA
IN WEST CENTRAL ALABAMA
THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF…BIRMINGHAM…CENTRE…FAYETTE…
ONEONTA…PELL CITY…SULLIGENT AND VERNON.
The main risk with the storms this evening and tonight will be large hail and damaging winds. Storms will approach I-20 between 7pm and 10pm, then move out of central Alabama shortly after 10pm. While the severe t-storm watch for north Alabama continues until Midnight, it sure looks like this event will be over before midnight tonight. Understand, this is a low end risk. I do not expect a widespread severe weather event this evening and tonight, but be alert over the next few hours.
Expect chilly weather for Thursday, with temperatures only topping out in the 50s. Areas north of Tuscaloosa and Birmingham could be in the 40s all day, with a north breeze. Look for lots of sunshine on Thursday and Friday. A freeze and frost is possible for many areas Friday morning. Highs will reach the low 60s on Friday.
Clouds increase over the weekend, with highs in the low 70s on Saturday and middle 70s on Sunday. A stray shower is possible on Sunday and Monday, with a better chance of scattered showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
