7PM Wed Update: Strong To Severe Storms Moving East… #alwx @wvua23

At 7pm, we’re watching an area of strong storms that are nearing severe criteria and have occasionally become severe over the past hour. These storms are moving east and expanding in coverage. At this time, storms were lined up from central Winston County southwest to Fayette and to Millport in southern Lamar County.

Some areas will miss the rain as the scattered storms pass through this evening, with severe weather issues being isolated to the stronger storms. A couple of storms may produce damaging wind or large hail between now and 10pm. After 10pm, storms will be moving out of central Alabama and into Georgia. There is currently a severe t-storm watch for areas north of Tuscaloosa, including cities of Vernon, Fayette, Jasper, Birmingham, Pell City and points north.

We’ll watch radar trends over the next few hours, but this will be a very fast hitting event. The risk of anything becoming severe south of I-20 is really low this evening.
