Low End Severe Risk Continues Today… Tuesday Update – 9am @wvua23 #alwx

At 9am, Tuesday morning, a batch of heavy rain and intense storms continue to organize over west Alabama. So far, there are no watches or warnings in our area, but that could change later this morning and into the afternoon. Storms could produce some flooding, given how heavy the rain rates are and how slow the storms are progressing east.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of Alabama under a slight risk of severe weather, with an enhanced risk of severe weather close to the Gulf Coast. The risk today across all of our area includes isolated wind damage, isolated flooding, large hail and perhaps a spin-up tornado or two.

The risk is beginning now in far west Alabama and will very slowly progress east through the rest of the morning and into the afternoon, reaching areas along and east of I-65 after lunch. The risk will end from west to east by mid to late afternoon, with all issues to the east of Alabama by sunset this evening.
