Nice Through Wednesday, Then Cooler… Monday Update – 4:30pm #alw@wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! The storm system that brought flooding and severe weather is long gone, as sunshine has made a return this afternoon. Conditions are actually pretty nice despite the northwest breeze. Expect winds to become light tonight, with a low in the upper 30s. The trough quickly moves to our east, allowing for a quick warm up on Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will reach the lower to middle 60s on Tuesday, with upper 60s to near 70 on Wednesday.

A cold front will push through the area Wednesday evening, bringing the risk of a few scattered showers. Some areas will not get rain and rain amounts should be light. As a large scale trough builds over the eastern US on Thursday through the weekend, temperatures will drop into the lower 50s each afternoon, with lows near freezing by late week and into the weekend. While it will be colder, temperatures will be really close to average for late January. Widespread heavy rain or severe weather is not expected over the next 7 days.
