Tornado Risk Now Lower… Strong to Severe Storms Ending By 3AM… 11:45pm Saturday Update #alwx @wvua23

At 11:45pm, it appears the risk of tornadoes is greatly diminishing across much of central and west Alabama. The storms are outrunning the best instability as they race towards the northeast. We will continue to deal with the risk of damaging wind and large hail through 3am, but the tornado risk appears limited to maybe an isolated spin-up. There is still a tornado watch for areas south of I-20 through 3am. While the  tornado risk is lower than earlier, I still want you to remain alert through 3am. After 3am, this batch of storms should be pushing out of west and central Alabama…

As storms pass through your area, expect very intense lightning and the potential for strong damaging winds and large hail. Again, an isolated tornado or two is still possible between now and 3am, but the risk appears more limited than previously thought.

Keep in mind, we go live non-stop on TV on WVUA during tornado warnings. I will be live at the top and bottom of every hour for cut-ins on WVUA. If we get a tornado warning, I will be on air and online non-stop. You can go to wvua23.com, scroll to the weather tab and click on Live severe weather stream to watch from your computer or smart phone.
