Rain & Storms Today, Some Strong… Sunday AM Update 9am #alwx @wvua23

No automatic alt text available.

Good Sunday morning! We’ve got more rain and storms approach west Alabama early this morning. Rain will become widespread through late morning and early afternoon. The best instability will be confined to far south and southeast Alabama, so severe weather is unlikely across central and west Alabama. officially, the Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk of severe weather for areas generally along and south of I-20, so we’ll need to watch radar trends between 11am and 4pm today.

There is a rare high risk of severe weather for north Florida and the southern portion of Georgia for the potential of a tornado outbreak today. Long track tornadoes are likely in those areas, as this powerful storm system pulls instability into strong uplift and intense wind shear. Again, west and central Alabama is in somewhat cooler, more stable air, so the risk of severe weather is lower. Be alert if you live along and south of I-20 through 4pm incase a storm manages to get a little out of hand…
