At 5am, very heavy rain is taking over west and central Alabama. There is a tornado watch until 11am for all areas just to the south of I-20. The watch includes everyone south of Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Anniston, but the watch does not include those cities. The primary risk area will be near the HWY 80 corridor and points south for damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes. Some flash flooding is also possible over the next several hours.

This round of storms will end on the west Alabama state line by 9am, and areas to the east of I-65 before noon.
