9:50pm Saturday Weather Update #alwx @wvua23

At 9:50pm Saturday, there are no severe weather issues across central Alabama. There are some severe storms in far south Alabama and central Mississippi, moving northeast. A tornado watch continues for much of central and south Alabama until 3am, which includes areas generally south of I-20.

We are watching the northward progression of the warm front. So far, the warm front is still south of our coverage area, which will keep the tornado risk low for maybe an hour. As the warm front builds northward into central and west Alabama, the chance of damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes will increase. Again, the highest potential for severe weather will be south of I-20, but some severe weather issues are possible north of Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Anniston as well.

Keep in mind, we go live non-stop on TV on WVUA during tornado warnings. I will be live at the top and bottom of every hour for cut-ins on WVUA. If we get a tornado warning, I will be on air and online non-stop. You can go to wvua23.com, scroll to the weather tab and click on Live severe weather stream to watch from your computer or smart phone. We will also facebook live severe weather coverage. Just look for WVUA23 on facebook!
