Nice Warming Trend Ahead… Monday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Monday afternoon! Our local weather started off cold again this morning, but changes are happening this afternoon, as the deep upper air trough moves out and a upper air ridge builds in from the west. Temperatures approached 50 in many areas this afternoon, melting the little ice and snow remaining on the ground. Expect temperatures to remain above freezing tonight, as a southeast wind transports clouds and moisture into the area. Lows will drop into the middle to upper 30s overnight. There is no chance of a frost of freeze for the next 7 days across Alabama, as we progress into a long duration mild pattern.

By Tuesday, highs will approach 60, under a mostly cloudy sky. A south breeze will continue to pump moisture into the state, and I can’t rule out an isolated shower or two. Most areas will remain dry. Highs will modify into the low 70s for many areas on Wednesday and Thursday, with a 20% risk of a few isolated showers. The best chance of showers will occur over the Tennessee Valley of north Alabama.

Friday through Sunday will feature even warmer temperatures, as highs approach the middle 70s. There is a low chance of a passing shower, but most areas will not get rain over the weekend. Expect a partly to mostly cloudy sky, as moisture in the lowest 5,000 feet of the atmosphere remains high. Lows at night will remain in the middle to upper 50s over the weekend.
