Mild Tuesday, Cold Air Ahead… Monday Forecast Update – 10pm #alwx @wvua23
January 2, 2017 Leave a comment
Temperatures will remain mild on Tuesday, with a high in the low 70s. Skies remain mostly cloudy on Tuesday, as a secondary cold front pushes into Alabama. Much colder air will take over on Wednesday. We’ll start off Wednesday morning in the lower 50s, with temperatures falling into the 40s by afternoon. Lows will drop to near freezing Wednesday night and below freezing Thursday night.
We are watching with interest the system set to arrive sometime late Friday and into Saturday. Model data continues to hint at the risk of a wintry mix across portions of Alabama. While it is too early to be specific, keep checking back with us for updates. Some models hint at the possibility of snow accumulations across portions of the deep south. Given how wild models have been flipping on and off with this event, confidence is pretty low with the details. Temperatures will be very cold on Friday and Saturday, with highs only in the 30s both afternoons.
