Freezing Rain for Northwest AL…No Accumulation Expected…11 a.m

It’s appears the freezing rain that was supposed to stick to north Alabama is digging further south this morning. The cold air last night that undercut the severe weather for most of Alabama is now helping produce light amounts of freezing rain and sleet pellets from Huntsville/Winston county, down in Jasper and parts of Walker country, and down into Pickens and Lamar counties. Counties south of the I-20 line will only see rain today, but the further north you go, the better your odds are to get a smidge of freezing ice or sleet pellets. No accumulation is expected within our DMA since ground temperatures are so warm and amounts will be so low, some could stick to cars and porches though. Consistent windy conditions today/early tonight should dry all roads before any ice can form on them.

If you get any reports of sleet or ice, let us now at Facebook or Twitter!
