Strong Storms Possible This Weekend (2:55PM 12/15/2016 Update)

Another cold evening and overnight is ahead across central Alabama. Overnight lows on Friday morning around 6AM will be in the mid- to upper-20s.
The amount of cloud coverage increases on your Friday ahead of our next weather system that gets set to move through the area starting on Saturday. A few areas, particularly in the northwest corner of Alabama could have isolated to scattered showers throughout the day on Saturday. The greater coverage of rain, however, happens overnight on Saturday into Sunday as a cold front gets set to move by.
Strong to severe storms will be possible late on Saturday into the early part of Sunday as a line of storms moves through. Damaging winds will be the main concern, but I can’t rule out isolated tornadoes. Have a way to receive urgent weather information this weekend.
After the passage of the cold front early on Sunday, temperatures take a nose dive. There very well could be a 40 degree thermal gradient across Alabama. This means places like Tuscaloosa and Birmingham could be in the 30s/40s while places in the southern part of the state like Dothan, Andalusia, and Brewton are in the mid-70s.
More rain showers are possible next week. Seasonal temperatures are likely next week as well.
