Showers Tonight & Tuesday, Then Cooler… Monday Forecast Update -4:15pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Monday afternoon! We started off the day wet across central and west Alabama, with a weak surface front slowly dipping southward across the state. While rain was not overly heavy, it was nice to get enough to wet the ground a bit. The front over south Alabama will back northward tonight, which will enhance the risk of showers overnight. There could be some fog in areas tonight, so be careful on the roads. Expect lows in the middle 50s overnight.

Showers continue in the forecast at times on Tuesday, especially before 3pm. Highs will reach the upper 60s on Tuesday. A dry north wind will take over by Tuesday night, and temperatures will begin the drop. Expect lows in the lower 40s Wednesday morning, with highs in the upper 50s Wednesday afternoon. Cooler air will continue to advect in from the north on Thursday. We’ll start Thursday morning in the low 30s, with a high in the upper 40s. Sunshine will return as a surface high builds in from the northwest. Lows Thursday night will fall into the middle to upper 20s.

Clouds increase on Friday ahead of a large scale storm system. Showers will move in sometime Friday night, with a good chance of showers and a few storms on Saturday, Saturday night and into the day on Sunday. The forecast for the weekend is very tricky, as models are having a tough time with the details. At this point, I would say the risk of anything severe Saturday night appears low, and any wintry weather should remain to our north on Sunday. We’ll carefully watch trends over the coming days and make changes to the forecast as needed.
