Cold Days Ahead… Wednesday Forecast Update – 5pm #alwx @wvua23
December 7, 2016 Leave a comment
Good Wednesday afternoon! Our local weather has remained cool and cloudy all day across west and central Alabama. Most areas managed to reach the middle 50s for highs, with a cool northwest breeze. Temperatures will drop into the upper 30s late tonight, under a mostly cloudy sky. A light shower is possible by early tomorrow morning, as a strong cold front passes through the state.
Cold air will be the big story Thursday and Friday, with highs in the 40s across all of west and central Alabama. Lows will dip into the low 20s Thursday night and Friday night. This will be the type of cold where you need to take cold weather precautions. Any outdoor, exposed water lines need to be insulated. It would be a good idea to leave your water facets dripping overnight Thursday night and Friday night to help prevent pipes from freezing. Clouds clear out by Thursday evening and we can expect lots of sunshine on Friday and Saturday.
Clouds increase on Sunday, as a weak upper air disturbance passes north of the state. As moisture increases, showers will become possible by Sunday night and continue into early on Monday. Temperatures will modify before precip moves in, so I don’t expect any issues with wintry weather. Expect highs in the upper 50s, with lows in the 40s by Sunday and Monday.
