Dry and Cooler Ahead… Weekend Rain… Wednesday Forecast Update – 5:20pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Wednesday evening! It has been a tragic 30 hours across Alabama, with numerous tornadoes across north Alabama and atleast 3 fatalities. The latest word from the National Weather Service has found 4 tornado paths across our northwest Alabama counties, but more tornado paths are yet to be surveyed, so that number will increase.

Cool and stable air has taken over and the severe weather risk has ended. Sunny skies will take over on Thursday and Friday, as a surface high builds in from the northwest. Expect a high in the upper 50s to near 60 on Thursday and Friday. Lows will dip into the upper 30s tonight and lower 30s Friday morning. A frost and freeze is possible for portions of north and central Alabama Friday morning.

Clouds increase on Saturday, with a good chance of a few showers Saturday night. Highs will only top out in the upper 50s on Saturday and Sunday, with rain becoming likely and widespread on Sunday and that may continue into Monday as well. Models suggest our area could get 2 to 5 inches of rain with this next event, which will continue to help pull us out of the drought. At this time, I do not see a risk of severe weather…
