Moderate Risk For Alabama Tonight…Severe Storms Aim to Continue 10:10 p.m. #alwx @WVUA23

day1otlk_0100.gif

In lieu of tonight’s severe weather, which we’ve already seen a good share of it, the Storm Prediction Center has edited the Southeast’s outlook for severe weather. Earlier today, the SOC had westward portions of Alabama under an Enhanced Risk. Since this afternoon though, they had brought a portion of west Alabama into a Moderate Risk for severe weather. This can best be interpreted as there is a very good opportunity for severe weather, including: tornadoes, hail, and powerful winds.

Currently, severe weather for central Alabama has come to a pause. Later tonight, though, more severe weather will transition into the state. Don’t plan on this to be quick severe weather event. Storms are going to slowly track into the state overnight tonight. They will last into the early morning hours, and maybe even into the mid-morning hours, around 10 a.m.

It is very important to have a source such as a NOAA weather radio to wake you up if your area is issued under a tornado warning. You can then turn on the TV or pull up our coverage on your smart phone or computer. Info on that below…
