Foggy Tonight… Dry Weekend Ahead… Wednesday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Wednesday afternoon! Clouds continue to increase across the state this evening, as a weak surface front moves in from the west. Moisture remains rather limited, so there hasn’t been anything other than a few sprinkles over west Alabama this afternoon and evening. A few light showers remain possible tonight, but widespread rain is unlikely. As dewpoints come up a bit overnight, I expect some foggy areas late tonight and early on Thursday.

Expect a gloomy start to our Thanksgiving Day, with some areas of fog before 10am. Highs will approach the low 70s by mid afternoon, with a return to sunshine after lunch. Expect cooler temperatures Thursday night, with lower 40s a common number.

Black Friday is looking great, with lots of sunshine and mild afternoon temperatures. Highs will reach the low 70s.

Iron Bowl Saturday will feature slightly cooler temperatures. As Alabama takes on Auburn in Bryant-Denny Stadium, expect temperatures generally in the middle 60s at kickoff, with middle 50s by the end of the game. Kickoff is at 2:30pm on Saturday.

Clouds increase on Monday, with a few showers becoming possible late in the day. A very dynamic and well developed storm system will progress eastward on Tuesday, sending a cold front into the state. Models agree with a high rain chance with this system. This looks to be out best rain chance we’ve had in several months. Given models are hinting at some surface based instability, we need to watch carefully for a severe risk out of this system. It’s still early and a lot could change, but keep that in mind as we approach early next week.

In the tropics, Tropical Storm Otto is looking well organized, with winds at 70mph. Otto is in the southern Caribbean and is moving west. Otto will not impact the US.
