Few Showers on Wednesday… Mild Thanksgiving… Tuesday Eve Update – 5pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Tuesday afternoon! After a very chilly start to the day, conditions turned out nice this afternoon. Mid and high level clouds are moving into the area this evening, as a storm system west of the state sends a cold front in our direction. Expect clouds to thicken up overnight, with lows in the lower 40s.

As a weak surface front moves into the area Wednesday, showers will become possible at any time during the day. While it will not rain all day and some spots remain dry, some areas will get between 0.10″ and 0.25″… Highs will approach 70 on Wednesday and Thursday.

Thanksgiving day looks nice and mild, with a high close to 70. Skies remain partly to mostly cloudy on Thursday, but rain is not expected. Sunshine breaks out on Friday and Saturday, as a surface high moves into the area. Highs will dip into the middle or upper 60s on Saturday and Sunday, with lows well down in the 30s at night.

There is increasing confidence in a good rain maker early next week, which could be the first best chance of rain we’ve had in months.

In the tropics, Hurricane Otto is looking better organized, with winds at 75mph. Otto is in the southern Caribbean and is moving west. Otto will not impact the US.
