Cold Start to Workweek, Showers Wednesday. 6:05 PM Forecast Update. #alwx @wvua23

Freezing temperatures across the state are expected again tonight, and likely this will be a killing freeze at that. Temperatures will be dropping to the upper 20s by early morning light in west Alabama. Plenty of sunshine over the next couple of days will allow for comfortable afternoons, with Tuesday’s high coming in at 70. A few scattered showers make their way back into the forecast on Wednesday, but not everyone will see rain, and those that do aren’t going to get the good soaking we need. Thanksgiving looks quite nice, with temperatures topping out in the upper 60s in the afternoon.

Drought: Drought continues and will likely worsen over the next few days despite the chance for scattered showers on Wednesday. As of Thursday 34% of the state was in exceptional drought, which is the highest category. Most of that area was located in north and central Alabama. Even if we do see some decent rains soon, it seems most likely the drought will stick around with us till at least spring.

Tonight: Cold. Widespread frost. Calm winds. Lows in the upper 20s.

Tomorrow: Pleasant. Sunny, with calm winds. High temperatures in the low 60s.

Rest of Week: Warmer Tuesday, with highs around 70. Few scattered showers on Wednesday. Pleasant Thanksgiving with highs in the upper 60s and plenty of sun. Dry and mild weather to round out the week.
