Good Wednesday evening! Our local weather turned out very nice this afternoon, under a good dose of sunshine. Temperatures reached the middle 70s during the peak heating, but temperatures are dropping fast now the sun has set. Skies remain clear tonight and temperatures will drop into the middle 40s.
Dry air heats and cools very effectively, so we can expect a rapid warming trend during the afternoon hours. Highs will approach 80 on Thursday and Friday, with a low in the upper 40s to near 50 Thursday night. Clouds increase on Friday ahead of an approaching cold front. Moisture will be limited ahead of the front, so I only expect a few light rain showers in some areas. Rain amounts will be generally less than 0.10″, so the drought will continue after the front passes.
The coldest air so far this season will arrive on Saturday, with temperatures only topping out in the upper 50s to near 60. Skies will become clear on Saturday and remain sunny through Sunday. Expect middle to upper 50s for highs on Sunday, with temperatures near freezing Sunday morning and Monday morning. The best chance of widespread frost will happen Sunday night, as winds go calm.
