Stray Shower Tuesday… Cooler Days Ahead… Monday Forecast Update – 4:25pm #alwx @wvua23

Good Monday afternoon! It has turned out to be a rather nice start to the work week, with occasional clouds and seasonal temperatures. A weak upper air disturbance west of Alabama is kicking off clouds this afternoon over Alabama and rain over Mississippi. As the uplift from the disturbance moves our way tonight and on Tuesday, a surface high to the east will pump cooler and drier air into Alabama. This will be an interesting battle to see if we can get enough moisture for a few sprinkles or light showers on Tuesday, but either way, this will not be a drought reliever… For Election day, expect a high in the upper 60s to near 70, with a small chance of a light shower or sprinkle. A cool east breeze will continue.
Clouds gradually decrease as a cold front pushes through the area on Wednesday. Highs will top out in the low 70s, with a developing northwest breeze. Expect low 40s Wednesday night and Thursday night. Some of the cooler valleys of northeast Alabama could touch the upper 30s Friday morning. Look for plenty of sunshine on Thursday and Friday for Veterans Day.
Another cold front will move through the state Friday evening, sending chilly air southward. Highs will only top out in the middle 60s over the weekend, with a potential of upper 30s area-wide Sunday morning. No rain is expected with the weekend cold front.
