Hot Days Ahead… Scattered Storms… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Tuesday afternoon! Scattered storms have fired up across the state this afternoon just on target, as a weak disturbance moves westward across the state. This will be a temporary uptick in the amount of scattered storms, as weak upper level ridging will move in quickly on Wednesday and Thursday. Expect the risk of scattered storms to diminish this evening, with some areas remaining dry. Lows will dip into the lower 70s tonight, under a partly cloudy sky.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature hot days, with a small chance of isolated afternoon storms. Most areas will miss out on the rain, but keep the umbrella nearby incase a quick hitting downpour moves over your area. Highs will reach the lower 90s, with a heat index in the upper 90s.

A weak surface front will approach Alabama from the northwest on Friday and over the weekend. This will help to somewhat increase the number of scattered storms. I do not expect an all day rain event over the weekend, and some of you will miss out on the scattered storms. Just expect a higher chance of getting a passing storm or two.

Tropical Storm Ian in the central Atlantic has winds at 45mph, with a track to the north northwest. This storm will not impact the US. A tropical wave near the east coast of Florida has a chance of becoming a weak tropical storm, but the surface low is sitting on the coast, which will limit or perhaps prevent development. Either way, this will ring some rain to Florida and the southeast US coast over the next few days.
