Rather Hot Days… Isolated Storms Possible Ahead… Friday Forecast Update – 4:30pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Friday afternoon! Our local weather has turned out hot again this afternoon, under a mostly sunny sky. Humidity remains low today, so the heat index is not a factor. Expect a gradual drop in temperatures after sunset, with most areas in the middle 70s by 10pm and a low in the upper 60s.

High School Football is looking nice Friday evening. Temperatures will start off the local games in the mid 80s at 7pm, under a clear sky. Look for temperatures to drop into the middle 70s by the final play.

The weekend forecast is looking mild and mostly dry; however, a few isolated storms are going to be possible Saturday evening through Sunday, as a weak surface front moves in from the northwest. Given there is not much surface moisture to work with and the best upper air support will be well north of Alabama, I don’t expect widespread rain in our local area. This is good news for the big Alabama/Western Kentucky game happening Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama takes on Western Kentucky Saturday afternoon, with a 2:30pm kickoff. Expect mostly sunny skies at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with temperatures in the lower 90s at kickoff. Temperatures will drop into the upper 80s by the end of the game.

Auburn takes on Arkansas State Saturday evening, with a 6:30pm kickoff. Expect mostly clear skies and very nice conditions for the game. Temperatures will start off the game in the lower to middle 80s, with upper 70s by the end of the game.

Next week will feature a pretty stagnant pattern, with hot days and the risk of a stray afternoon or evening storm. Most areas will not get rain next week, but don’t be shocked if you get a quick afternoon downpour, especially on Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday and Thursday, the risk of an isolated afternoon storm drops to 10%.
