Hot Days Ahead… Low Humidity… Tuesday Forecast Update – 4:45pm #alwx @wvua23

7 Day Forecast - Offset Lows - PM.png

Good Tuesday afternoon! It has turned out to be another hot and sunny afternoon, but dewpoints are in the 60s, which is nice for this time of the year. Expect a fairly fast drop in temperatures this evening and tonight, with most areas in the middle 70s by 10pm and upper 60s after midnight. Dry air heats and cools efficiently, which will be a noticeable trend for the rest of the week and into the weekend.

Wednesday through Saturday features a good dose of sunshine, with highs in the lower to middle 90s each afternoon. An upper air ridge will remain in place all week, which will allow for the hot daytime temperatures. Look for skies to remain mostly sunny, with no organized rain chance ahead. Lows at night will remain in the middle to upper 60s each night this week and into the weekend.

A weak surface front moves through the area on Sunday. Given the nature of the dry air ahead of the front, rain chances look unlikely with this system. The air will become a tad cooler and drier Sunday through Tuesday of next week. If the front can clear our area to the south, that would keep the rain chances south of our area through early next week.

In the tropics, we have post tropical system Hermine just east of New York, producing strong winds across the coastal sections of the northeast. That system will continue do fizzle out this week. A new system in the central Atlantic could become our next named storm this week, but a US impact is unlikely.
